Usher - Moving Mountains

Book hotel accommodation early this Christmas to avoid disappointment

The Christmas holiday season is a popular time for people to stay overnight in Sydney to avoid driving home after festive celebrations, or to accommodate visiting relatives and friends in city accommodation - but many people leave it too late to book, a leading Australian hotel chain has warned.
George Bedwani, COO of Australian hotel chain Metro Hotels, said accommodation in Sydney is already booking fast for the Christmas and New Year period, and people planning celebrations in the city during this period should consider booking now to avoid disappointment.
“It is important to remember also that if you book early and you will save on hotel rates as leaving it until the last minute, occupancy will rise and premium rates will apply.
“Our experience is that the global financial crisis has not impacted bookings for this period at all and accommodation in Sydney will be heavily booked for December and January. If people already know the date of their office Christmas party or want to spend New Year’s Eve in Sydney, now is the time to book accommodation.”
Mr Bedwani said New Year’s Eve in Sydney continues to be an international highlight, with Sydney City Council ensuring each year was uniquely themed to ensure crowds continued to congregate around the harbour to enjoy the spectacular fireworks and other festivities on offer.
He said rooms were still available for New Year’s Eve for people keen to make the most of the celebrations, or to show visitors one of the best celebrations anywhere in the world.
Metro Hotels has a number of hotels and apartments in Sydney city. People seeking accommodation for the December or January period should visit the Metro Hotels website at www.metrohotels.com.au or call the toll free Central Reservations line on 1800 004 321. Metro Hotels is the public face of Transmetro Corporation, an Australian owned public company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. The Group currently provides a national accommodation network of 15 properties, with over 1000 rooms in key locations and major cities across Australia.

12/11/2009 A Golden Babe has arrived at Sydney Wildlife World

Sydney Wildlife WorldNovember 12, 2009

Sydney Wildlife World’s two rare golden brushtail possums are proud to announce the birth of their first joey, Foster. The male and female pair arrived at the Wildlife World earlier this year and keepers are thrilled that they’ve already had breeding success.
They’re one of Australia’s largest arboreal (tree-dwelling) marsupial herbivores and are simply spectacular, with a bright coat of dazzling gold. They are hypomelanistic; meaning they have little melanin in their skin, in fact the only place they have it is in their eyes which is why these animals have black eyes as opposed to true albino animals; who have pink eyes.
When Foster was born he was only the size of a jellybean, he spent four months growing inside the pouch and at around four months of age first started peering outside. Now at six months he has outgrown mums pouch and spends most of his time on her back.
Sydney Wildlife World’s Nocturnal keeper, Kate Blount, says “Foster is a real card, already getting up to mischief and exploring the exhibit as fast as his little legs will carry him. We’re very proud of this birth. It’s testament to our animals well being. Once a juvenile, Foster will become part of a wider breeding program to help ensure the survival and raise awareness of these incredible animals.” Did you know? • Brushtails are the size of a domestic cat with a pointed face, long oval ears, pink nose and bushy tail • The Tasmanian Brushtail has three main colour variations; silver grey, black and gold • Pure golden possums are the result of a genetic mutation and are rarely seen in the wild because they are conspicuous to predators • Their natural and preferred habitat is forest, where they nest in tree hollow • They feed mainly on leaves of trees and shrubs and enjoy succulent herbs, grasses and garden plants; they occasionally scavenge meat • The brushtail possum communicates by sound and scent; ferocious screeches and guttural growls are used • They have a hand-like back foot for grasping and a strong flexible tail for curling around branches • Like many of our native animals human and domestic animals threaten this species
With school holidays just around the corner now is a great time to start planning a trip to Sydney to see Foster, the Possum joey at Sydney Wildlife World in Darling Harbour, plus all the other fantatstic attractions that Sydney has to offer. If you need accommodation for your stay then Metro Hotels has two apartment properties ideally located directly opposite Sydney Wildlife World and Darling Harbour. Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour and Metro Apartments on King offer ideal family accommodation right in the heart of the city and close to all major attractions. To book your accommodation contact Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour and Metro Apartments on King directly. For more information on seeing Foster and all the other animals at Sydney Wildlife World contact them directly on 02 8251 7884.

The Ting Tings are up for best new artist, have said that they are “delighted” about their nomination and excited about attending the 2010 event,
Katie White (the lead singer) said: “We are delighted about being nominated for a Grammy. All that hard touring of the USA did us proud.
Thanks to everyone that came to see us and supported us.”
As for how they heard the news about their nomination, Kate said: “We got the news at 5am this morning as we got up to take a flight from Berlin to LA for some more shows out there. We got into our driver's car in a daze of gobsmacked-ness and forgot to take our bags to the airport, so we ended up missing our flight.”
The Ting Tings are currently in the studio working on their second album, which is due for release next year.... CAN’T WAIT!

Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson has promised fans that he will return to his full creativity after being dropped by his record label.
Interscope apparently took the decision to drop Marilyn because his last album: ‘The High End Of Low’ flopped selling just 121,000 copies to date.
Manson told Metal Hammer that his creative talent was stifled under the firm. He explained: “I was so restrained from the music that I wanted to make - what they would allow, they would put out, what ideas they would allow to be conveyed in these videos. At least half of my creative output has been squashed, so now I think people can expect a whole lot more.”
For all his wackiness i actually like some of his material ...
