Mulan Acrobatic Show coming soon to sydney - tourism and events news and information

The internationally acclaimed Mulan Acrobatic Show is coming to Australia in 2011. Following a six-month tour of the US, the dazzling show for families will return to Sydney by popular demand in time to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Mulan Acrobatic show is a swift and entertaining two-hour fusion of the famous myths, music, movement, costume, fantasy, danger and playfulness all wrapped up in one. Audiences in the US raved, “to properly describe the act in words is not possible, it has to be seen, but imagine bouncing juggling pins off the floor to each while swiftly passing others through the air at the same time; even juggling pins that are stationary on the feet”.

The visually spectacular show and ideal for families, Mulan features thirty five performers, with the youngest being twelve years old and has made an outstanding breakthrough in acrobatic techniques, with incredible displays of Shadow Puppet Play, Silk Trapeze, Meteriors and Hoop Diving. A team of professional martial arts performers has been incorporated into the show to bring about a unique, high adventure and breathtaking visual experience. Mulan pushes the impossible to the extreme as acrobats dive and throw themselves like human arrows through multiple golden hoops. Performers elegantly and gracefully form their bodies into living sculptures - a challenge of strength and flexibility.

Let your imagination run wild as you immerse in the spectacular legend and relax to sounds of acorns falling to the ground. Don’t miss the unique and refreshing experience this summer. Book Now!

Come face to face with the legendary terracotta warriors in Sydney this summer

One of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the twentieth century, the guardian warriors of China’s first Emperor have captivated audiences around the world.

Discovered by villagers in 1974, this vast underground army was created to protect the tomb of the first Emperor of China, Qin Shihuang (221-220 BCE) in readiness for the afterlife.

The First Emperor: China’s entombed warriors brings to Australia over 120 objects, featuring ten terracotta warriors including foot soldiers, generals, kneeling bowmen and horses. Normally viewed at a distance, this is a rare opportunity to examine the details and intricacies of these iconic figures.

Rare and precious ceremonial bells and daggers, ornamental jade and brass, pottery and ceramics, and significant recent finds also discovered in the Emperor tomb complex will be on display alongside the warriors.

The exhibition reveals the fascinating story of a key figure in world history, who unified China, leaving a legacy that has lasted over 2000 years.

Drawn from institutions in Shaanxi province, including the Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Emperor Qin Shihuang.

Kangen OSIS

aaaaaaaaa, this is so bad feeling guys. idkw gue kangeeeeeen banget sama osis. sumpeh suer ga booong -_-"
gue juga kangen sama suasana gila2annya gue sama anak OSIS dan Hanna. yeah, she's my bestfriend, she is a part of OSIS SMPN 20 too. and i was enjoying my time to work with her.

well, keep on fighting bro and sis. i pray to God, to completing your job.
so, i'm out, i kill this. i peace

Sting Performing his Greatest Hits, Re-imagined for Symphonic Arrangement
Conducted by Steven Mercurio

Performances Confirmed in Perth, Barossa Valley, Melbourne, Sydney, Hunter Valley, Brisbane and Christchurch.

For Immediate Release - Sunday, October 10, 2010.

LIVE NATION is pleased to announce that STING will extend his critically-acclaimed world tour, Symphonicity, to Australia and New Zealand in January and February, 2011.

The Australian tour will begin January 22 in Perth (Sandalford Estate) followed by performances in the Barossa Valley and Melbourne (Music Bowl), with an additional two-night engagement at the renowned Sydney Opera House. The tour will also make stops at the Hope Estate Winery in Hunter Valley and the Brisbane River Stage before continuing to New Zealand, where Sting will perform at the CBS Canterbury Arena in Christchurch, before concluding at the already sold-out Mission Estate Winery, on February 12 in Napier Valley.

Following sold-out performances throughout North America and Europe, Symphonicity finds Sting performing his greatest hits, re-imagined for symphonic arrangement, conducted by Maestro Steven Mercurio (Pavarotti, Bocelli). For this portion of the tour, Symphonicity will feature the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Perth, Barossa Valley and Melbourne, the Sydney Symphony in Sydney, Brisbane and Hunter Valley, with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra performing in Christchurch and Napier, NZ.

Sting will also be joined by a group of accomplished musicians, comprised of Dominic Miller (Sting's longtime guitarist), Rhani Krija (Sting's longtime multi-genre percussionist), David Cossin (a multi-percussion specialist in new and experimental music and featured member of the Bang on a Can All-Stars), Jo Lawry (Australian vocalist) and Ira Coleman (bassist).

"I am looking forward to performing in Australia and New Zealand, having a whole new palate of musical colours to work with and reinventing the songs that have been the staples of my live shows for over thirty years," says Sting.

Drawing from a diverse and illustrious career that has produced numerous multi-platinum albums, a staggering list of number one songs, countless accolades and worldwide record sales of nearly 100 million, Sting's most celebrated songs have been re-interpreted with brand new orchestrations arranged by Jorge Calandrelli, David Hartley, Michel Legrand, Rob Mathes, Vince Mendoza, Steven Mercurio, Bill Ross, Robert Sadin, and Nicola Tescari.

Selections, created especially for this tour, will include fan-favourites such as The Police hits "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", "Roxanne", "Next To You" and "Every Breath You Take," to notable songs from Sting's enduring solo career - "Englishman In New York," "Fragile," "Russians," "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You," "Fields Of Gold," and "Desert Rose."

Bangga Jadi Anak Indonesia

Kalo ditanya gue bangga apa enggak jadi anak Indonesia.

piss. love. and gaul!

New Year New Class

Finally, my mood to blogging again is back.
first word i wanna say is "WELCOME MY NEW FOLLOWERS AND MY VIEWERS"
thank you so much for being my followers, it's mean so much to me :)

well, gue lagi gak mood ngebacot pake bahasa asing nih. lagi cinta Indonesia.

kayanya tuh gue cepet banget grade eight nya. well, sebenernya gue pengen lebih lama sama laxis.
tapi namanya juga junior high school, yang dipikirin mesti sekolah, bukannya main2nya. ya gak tuh ?
pas awal gue dikasih tau masuk kelas 9-6, gue ngerasa sedih dan kesel aja.
kenapa gue gak ditempatin sekelas ama temen2 gue, padahal gue masih mau banget ampe sekarang sekelas sama Hanna, Putri, Arbi, Isti, Mira, Filza, dan Nabella.

Bukan berarti kelas 9-6 gak asik, cuma gue gak kenal sama anak2nya. apalagi gue orangnya pemalu gitu kan (oke ini nonsense)
pertama kali masuk kelas aja tuh, gue diem aja, boong deh. gue maleh ngobrol banyak ama melisa (temen sebangku gue) dia orangnya tuh cantik, pinter lagi, sayangnya dia itu enak banget buat gue siksa.

Di kelas yang baru ini, gue berasa anak2 cowonya asik2 tapi.............
dulu menurut gue jerico itu anaknya ngeselin, eh ternyata pas udah kenal anaknya asik juga tuh
trus dulu gue ga deket ama ikhlas, tapi gara2 nabilla gue jadi deket deh haha
enak sih ngacangin tuh anak!

waktu gue sakit, anak2 tuh pada bawel smsin gue, pada nanya kapan masuk.
katanya sih kelas sepi gak ada gue cikiciw, haha gue jadi malu kesemsem aduhai gimana gitu
terlepas dari semua yang gak gue sukain di kelas ini, ehm yaitu peeng dan missis galak. gue seneng anjer di kelas ini. haha thank you guys, for bring me a good fun

Kylie Minogue

Oh dear... Kylie Minogue has had to respond to internet complaints about her mimed performance of her new song ‘Get outta my way’ at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last Thursday... Kylie who performed alongside Jessica Simpson and Kanye West mimed her vocals on her new single but fans soon turned to social networking sites to voice their anger resulting in Kylie having to address her followers, saying: “Relax peeps, EVERYONE has to mime at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!! (sic)” ...

Lady Gaga and Elton John

Lady Gaga and Elton John have done another duet together which features on the film ‘Gnomeo and Juliet’ discussing the track Elton revealed: “GaGa was fantastic to work with - we did a duet called 'Hello, Hello'.”... “If I had a daughter it would be GaGa, no doubt. She has the same penchant for high shoes; she’s great.”
He continued: “She is influenced by so many people - you can see it... she is like all of us. When I first started out I was influenced by people and then you gradually form a character of your own.”

Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue has announced that she plans to release a remixed greatest hits album... (thank god it’s not another ‘normal’ greatest hits)
Kylie was in London yesterday where she performed an acoustic set of her well-known hits for BBC Radio 2 including: ‘Can't Get You Out Of My Head’, ‘All The Lovers’ and ‘In My Arms’
Speaking at Maida Vale studios, she said: “Thanks in no small part to the BBC, I've always loved working with an orchestra and doing acoustic sets, so we're looking to put together an album of the various songs in this kind of manner.”
Kylie also revealed that her acoustic performance of ‘Can't Get You Out Of My Head’ will be the B-side to her FANTASTIC new single ‘Better than today’... love to see this hit No.1

Westlife

Westlife have responded to Brian McFadden’s return to the band saying that it would be ‘boring’... Sorry to burst your bubble Brian! Earlier this week, Brain said that he is ‘Ready’ to reunite with his former band mates to take on the newly-reformed Take That.
However Shane Filan told a national newspaper that Brain McFadden’s offer will not be taken up... (Good on ye lads!)
Shanes is quoted as saying: “I don't think it's even remotely interesting if Brian came back... “Brian left because he didn't like being in the band. It wasn't because we fell out. For us as a band, we never split up. We've kept going and are very happy... “If another person came in it would be like restarting a new band.”
In reference to the comparisons between Brian’s prospective return and Robbie William's rejoining Take That, Shane said: “Robbie Williams coming back to Take That was a big announcement... “He's the biggest male solo performer of the past 20 years. You can't compare it.”
Ha-ha ha ha Brain!

'N Sync

Now i have to admit this made me laugh this morning after learning that Lance Bass said that he and his former 'N Sync band mates have no plans to reunite in the future... I’d love to see Justin Timberlake’s face when someone suggests that to him! - Lmao
Speaking to an Entertainment channel Lance said: “I don't see that coming anytime soon,” ... “Justin’s very busy with his acting career right now so I think it's going to be quite a while before we even think about doing anything.”
However, Lance did say that he would be interested in reuniting in the future, adding: “I love being on the stage. So yeah, anytime the guys would want to do an album, I'm in!” – i bet you are, actually... who’s Lance Bass...?

Admission is $7 per person and $3 for skate rental; season passes are also available. Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday. Extended hours begin Dec. 22. Details are available at www.wbtholidayonice.com. Last year, "Holiday on Ice" served more than 20,000 people.

The Belk Carolinas' Carrousel Parade -- a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Charlotte -- will again feature marching bands, colorful floats, rhythmic step and drill teams, clowns, stilt-walkers, mascots, horses and more when it marches down Tryon Street on Thursday. The parade will start at 10 a.m. from 10th and North Tryon streets and ends at the Levine Center for the Arts at South Tryon Street. WBTV (Channel 3) will televise the parade at 4 p.m. the same day. The parade has been the kick-off to the holiday season here since 1947 and is the fourth-largest Thanksgiving parade in the U.S., according to organizers. In 2009, more than 110,000 spectators were on hand.

Uptown Charlotte’s official Christmas tree will be lighted on Thursday, Dec. 2 during a free ceremony that also will feature holiday music, dance, strolling performers and singers, Santa Claus and more. The event will take place in Corporate Plaza at Founder's Hall. Activities start at 5:30 with a jazz trio performance; the lighting ceremony is at 6; a Nutcracker performance and more music continue until 8 p.m. Dec. 2 also will mark the start of the second season of the uptown holiday market called TWELVE. Located at the Square in 101 Independence Center, patrons can browse TWELVE for holiday décor, arrangements and other products offered by local vendors. More information on these events can be found at www.findyourcenter.com.

Speedway lights up for Christmas season

Carolina Christmas, a new 2.5-mile drive-through Christmas light park and village, opens tonight on the track and infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord.

The celebration -- set to begin just after 5:30 p.m. -- will include fireworks; the lighting of the Carolina Christmas display, featuring more than a million lights and 500 different displays; and an appearance by Santa.

The attraction opens to the public at 6 p.m., and through Jan. 2, will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly. Tickets ($20 per carload) are available online and at the gate nightly during event hours for drive-up traffic. For details, click here.

Carowinds gets the Xmas treatment, too

The theme park's display -- a tradition since 1983 -- will illuminate the sky beginning Nov. 26. Standing more than 40 feet tall and using more than 5,000 lights, the star at the top of the Carolina Skytower (more than 300 feet tall itself) will shine each evening this holiday season.

Ground crews use a pulley system to erect the massive star; workers then use hundreds of strands of lights to complete the "tree." Said Carowinds' vice president and general manager Bart Kinzel: "We like to think we are helping put commuters in the holiday spirit every time they drive by Carowinds."

Mint Museum offers free shuttle service

Thanksgiving means out-of-town visitors for many, which means next Friday and Saturday, Charlotteans will be looking for ways to entertain those guests.

One popular idea will be the Mint museums, and this news may make it even more popular: The Mint will offer free shuttle service between the Randolph and Uptown locations on both Nov. 26 and 27.

The shuttle will run every 30 minutes from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission to the Mint is valid for both locations for two days from the date of purchase. (The museums are closed on Thanksgiving Day.)

At the Mint Randolph, visitors can get up close and personal with a Mary Cassatt painting recently installed in the galleries. There is also a small spotlight show around the painting "Mary Cassatt's Madame X: A Masterpiece from the Charlotte and Philip Hanes Collection," which will present period fashions and decorative objects from the artist's era.

At the Mint Uptown, visitors can view the inaugural exhibitions "New Visions: Contemporary Masterworks from the Bank of America Collection" and "Contemporary British Studio Ceramics: The Grainer Collection." In addition, children can play in the Lewis Family Gallery or go on a scavenger hunt using "ARTventure cards," which are available at the front desk.

Classic Mike Love Mixtape-NBA Live Hosted By Antoine Walker (2002)

I'm not uploading all the old Mike Love Show mixtapes, only a couple. Why? BECAUSE I GAVE Y'ALL NIGERIAN GANGSTER & BOTH OF THE UNIVERSAL SESSIONS FOR FREE and Its time I make some cheese off my former hard work (Seriously, there will be paypal links for your favorite mixtapes soon so get ya 10's ready).

So, what's the history behind this mixtape? I wanted NBA Live to be a mixtape series hosted by Chicago area NBA Ballers but the only ones I could pull off were Antoine Walker & Bobby Simmons. (big up to Bob who's still in the league 8 years later, Toine, not so much) We never did Bobby's mixtape because "the streets" hated the Antoine Walker concept. We recorded Bob's part when he was playing for the Wizards & It was the Michael Jordan/Wizards era. Bob talked about Mike being a black hole with the rock, etc. Good stuff, maybe I'll find the dat one day & release it as an interview.

Actually, the real reason I'm releasing this is because True Enuff asked me to. The Dunn Ruff family is repping hard on this one. Hell, it was mastered by Mike Dunn. Wow, I got a mixtape mastered by Mike Dunn. Oh, the things I've accomplished in life...

Anywheezie, the intro of this mixtape was spotlighted as one of my all-time favorite mixtape intros here, so now you get to hear the entire thing & see what I was on in 2002. Creative & cold as hell, still.

Mini Viva

It doesn’t really come as a surprise but Mini Viva have confirmed that they have split up.
Mini Vivi hit the Top10 with their debut single ‘Left my heart in Tokyo’ last year, but the follow-up singles ‘I wish’ and ‘One touch didn’t even get into the Top40 - charting at numbers 73 and 114 respectively.
In a statement band member Britt Love said: “First off all we would like to apologise for not being able to tell you sooner what was going on with Mini Viva,”... “It was something we had to decide for ourselves first and of course it was a big decision. “Both of us felt like the time was up for Mini Viva. We had tried so much and so had everyone who was supporting us. But sometimes things just don’t work out the way you would like them to.”
She continued: “We would just like to take this time to thank every single one of you for supporting us on our journey! We could not have asked for more loyal fans than you guys!”

Aussies stayed in Australian hotels 3% longer on average this year

Aussies are staying longer in Australian hotels than last year, with hotel bookings 3 percent longer on average than last year, and Australians spending 5 percent more on their daily hotel rates.

Domestic tourism continues to struggle in the face of the high Australian dollar making overseas travel relatively less expensive than the same time last year, however in a survey by hotel group Best Western, the effects of the global financial crisis may well be over in the Australian accommodation sector. Australian hotels and motels in the past six months have seen corporate clients and families returning in the past six months, suggesting that more mobile young holiday goers are taking advantage of the high Australian dollar and opting not to travel domestically.

Kimi Anderson, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Best Western Australasia said families are key to domestic tourism income in Australia.

“Corporate clients and families are still finding travel achievable and affordable, which is a great sign for the industry. It’s also heartening to see that holidays are being extended for families, and people are feeling more relaxed about taking time away from work to explore the beauty of Australia”.

Online bookings for Best Western spiked by 65 percent in the last month alone, demonstrating the shift towards purchasing travel online

Australia experiences double-digit growth with Asian tourists Tuesday 9th November, 2010

The inbound tourism industry is celebrating a second month of double-digit growth, with a significant increase in the number of Asian tourists visiting Australian shores.

Managing Director of the Australia Tourism Export Council (ATEC), Matthew Hingerty, said that the Australian Bureau of Statistic’s Overseas Arrivals and Departures figures for September showed that Australia was enjoying strong growth from Asian destinations.

“The Australian inbound tourism industry is particularly delighted to see the second month of strong growth from Japan, which was up 30.4% on 2009, China, which was up 42.9% and double-digit growth from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Korea,” Mr Hingerty said.

“We hold out some hope that our strong growth from the region will off-set the impact of weak local economies and the high dollar in traditional Western markets.”

The Australian inbound tourism industry continued to perform strongly in the third quarter of 2010, with the 502,900 visitors in September 2010 being 7.7% higher than September 2009, following a strong August, which was 5.6% higher.

Mr Hingerty said that the impact of the high dollar was less likely to be felt in the overall “head-count” of arriving tourists but more in their discretionary expenditure while here, particularly from economically-challenged western markets.

He says a number of smart campaigns such as “There’s Nothing Like Australia” have helped emphasise the experience of visiting Australia over the expense.

Congratulations go to Leona Lewis who has just become the 14th female singer to have a million-selling single in the UK.
Leona’s global No.1 single passed the ONE MILLION mark following Matt Cardle's performance on ‘The X Factor’, the song sold 1,117 copies bringing it’s UK sales to 1,000,534. (giving Lewis the 103rd single to notch up a million sales based on data from the OCC).

Pulp

Fantastic news! Pulp have just announced that they are getting back together and will reform a couple of festivals next year!
In a press release it read: “Pulp have decided to get together and play some concerts next summer. The shows will involve all the original members of the band (Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackay, Russell Senior & Mark Webber) & they will play songs from all periods of their career (Yes, that means they'll be playing your favourites).” It went on to name specific concert dates: “Wireless Festival (Sunday, July 3) and Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival (Friday, May 27) but described these dates as “the first shows”.

I used to love this band; it’d be great to hear some of their classic tracks live like: ‘Common people’ and Disco 2000.

Dizzee Rascal & Cheryl Cole

Gone are the days when two artists liked each other and decided to do a duet together (as in, in person) Dizzee Rascal has revealed that he is yet to even hear his collaboration with Cheryl Cole.
Dizzee features on Cheryl’s album track ‘Everybody, Everyone’ but he’s admitted that it’s like the duet “never happened”.
Speaking in a national newspaper Dizzee is quoted as saying: “It was like it never happened. I never saw her”... “They sent me three tracks and I basically picked the one I thought would be best. It saves money on planes: imagine going halfway across the world in first class then deciding that you don't like the person...”
Stupid if you ask me! I think two artist collaborating should be done because they genuinely like and respect each other and each other work and not for MONEY.

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera has revealed that she has begun working on a new album.
Christina only released her 4th album ‘Bionic’ earlier this year, she revealed that the new album will be “introspective” and have “a different vibe.
Speaking to a magazine she said: “Now I'm actually in the studio recording the next album, which has a different vibe... “I think now we're back to going a little deeper, in the vein where I recorded my ‘Stripped’ record, which was very personal and more introspective.”

Christina’s current album has been a global flop selling less than a million copies worldwide,
despite going to No.1 in the UK it was declared the lowest-selling UK number one in album chart history.

Cheryl Cole

Congratulations to Cheryl Cole who has landed a record deal in America worth a staggering £6 MILLION!

Cheryl made a flying visit L.A this week where she hammered out the lucrative contract with record company Universal.
According to reports Universal has offered to release her new album ‘Messy Little Raindrops’ in America next year, in addition to two more albums.
According to a national newspaper a source is quoted as saying: “Cheryl got a call from some very senior people at Universal saying they wanted to see her. They are the kind of people who when they say, 'Jump,' you ask, 'How high?”... “So she jumped on a plane and went to LA for 36 hours. Derek [Hough] was there to ferry her to-and-fro and give her support as these big execs can be quite scary.”

Bosses at Universal are said to have called Cheryl Cole last Sunday night
