Mulan Acrobatic Show coming soon to sydney - tourism and events news and information

The internationally acclaimed Mulan Acrobatic Show is coming to Australia in 2011. Following a six-month tour of the US, the dazzling show for families will return to Sydney by popular demand in time to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Mulan Acrobatic show is a swift and entertaining two-hour fusion of the famous myths, music, movement, costume, fantasy, danger and playfulness all wrapped up in one. Audiences in the US raved, “to properly describe the act in words is not possible, it has to be seen, but imagine bouncing juggling pins off the floor to each while swiftly passing others through the air at the same time; even juggling pins that are stationary on the feet”.
The visually spectacular show and ideal for families, Mulan features thirty five performers, with the youngest being twelve years old and has made an outstanding breakthrough in acrobatic techniques, with incredible displays of Shadow Puppet Play, Silk Trapeze, Meteriors and Hoop Diving. A team of professional martial arts performers has been incorporated into the show to bring about a unique, high adventure and breathtaking visual experience. Mulan pushes the impossible to the extreme as acrobats dive and throw themselves like human arrows through multiple golden hoops. Performers elegantly and gracefully form their bodies into living sculptures - a challenge of strength and flexibility.
Let your imagination run wild as you immerse in the spectacular legend and relax to sounds of acorns falling to the ground. Don’t miss the unique and refreshing experience this summer. Book Now!

Come face to face with the legendary terracotta warriors in Sydney this summer

One of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the twentieth century, the guardian warriors of China’s first Emperor have captivated audiences around the world.
Discovered by villagers in 1974, this vast underground army was created to protect the tomb of the first Emperor of China, Qin Shihuang (221-220 BCE) in readiness for the afterlife.
The First Emperor: China’s entombed warriors brings to Australia over 120 objects, featuring ten terracotta warriors including foot soldiers, generals, kneeling bowmen and horses. Normally viewed at a distance, this is a rare opportunity to examine the details and intricacies of these iconic figures.
Rare and precious ceremonial bells and daggers, ornamental jade and brass, pottery and ceramics, and significant recent finds also discovered in the Emperor tomb complex will be on display alongside the warriors.
The exhibition reveals the fascinating story of a key figure in world history, who unified China, leaving a legacy that has lasted over 2000 years.
Drawn from institutions in Shaanxi province, including the Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Emperor Qin Shihuang.

Sting Performing his Greatest Hits, Re-imagined for Symphonic Arrangement
Conducted by Steven Mercurio
Performances Confirmed in Perth, Barossa Valley, Melbourne, Sydney, Hunter Valley, Brisbane and Christchurch.
For Immediate Release - Sunday, October 10, 2010.
LIVE NATION is pleased to announce that STING will extend his critically-acclaimed world tour, Symphonicity, to Australia and New Zealand in January and February, 2011.
The Australian tour will begin January 22 in Perth (Sandalford Estate) followed by performances in the Barossa Valley and Melbourne (Music Bowl), with an additional two-night engagement at the renowned Sydney Opera House. The tour will also make stops at the Hope Estate Winery in Hunter Valley and the Brisbane River Stage before continuing to New Zealand, where Sting will perform at the CBS Canterbury Arena in Christchurch, before concluding at the already sold-out Mission Estate Winery, on February 12 in Napier Valley.
Following sold-out performances throughout North America and Europe, Symphonicity finds Sting performing his greatest hits, re-imagined for symphonic arrangement, conducted by Maestro Steven Mercurio (Pavarotti, Bocelli). For this portion of the tour, Symphonicity will feature the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Perth, Barossa Valley and Melbourne, the Sydney Symphony in Sydney, Brisbane and Hunter Valley, with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra performing in Christchurch and Napier, NZ.
Sting will also be joined by a group of accomplished musicians, comprised of Dominic Miller (Sting's longtime guitarist), Rhani Krija (Sting's longtime multi-genre percussionist), David Cossin (a multi-percussion specialist in new and experimental music and featured member of the Bang on a Can All-Stars), Jo Lawry (Australian vocalist) and Ira Coleman (bassist).
"I am looking forward to performing in Australia and New Zealand, having a whole new palate of musical colours to work with and reinventing the songs that have been the staples of my live shows for over thirty years," says Sting.
Drawing from a diverse and illustrious career that has produced numerous multi-platinum albums, a staggering list of number one songs, countless accolades and worldwide record sales of nearly 100 million, Sting's most celebrated songs have been re-interpreted with brand new orchestrations arranged by Jorge Calandrelli, David Hartley, Michel Legrand, Rob Mathes, Vince Mendoza, Steven Mercurio, Bill Ross, Robert Sadin, and Nicola Tescari.
Selections, created especially for this tour, will include fan-favourites such as The Police hits "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", "Roxanne", "Next To You" and "Every Breath You Take," to notable songs from Sting's enduring solo career - "Englishman In New York," "Fragile," "Russians," "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You," "Fields Of Gold," and "Desert Rose."
