Katy Perry - The One That Got Away

Pourquoi s'arrêter en si bon chemin ? Alors qu'on ne sait toujours pas ce qu'il adviendra du très bon Part Of Me dont je vous parlais il y a 9 mois, Katy Perry poursuit l'exploitation de son dernier album "Teenage Dream" avec The One That Got Away.

Et ce titre aura une tâche bien particulière : tenter de battre le record de Michael Jackson (qu'elle a d'ores et déjà égalé donc) en classant 6 singles extraits du même album numéro 1 des charts US. Pour ce faire, la popstar tranche avec l'explosif Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) en proposant un mid-tempo sur un amour perdu.

C'est bien là l'une des grandes forces de Katy Perry : elle reste tout aussi crédible et efficace dans des titres délirants et super-énergiques (I Kissed A Girl, Hot N Cold, California Gurls...), que dans des OVNI's électro-isants (E.T.), des mid-tempo (Teenage Dream...) et même des ballades (Thinking Of You).

Toujours accompagnée par de très bons producteurs, compositeurs et paroliers (ici de nouveau le combo Dr. Luke / Max Martin), servie par d'aussi bons clips et proposant des prestations scéniques détonnantes  Katy Perry est une vraie grande artiste pop.

[CLIP] Adele - Someone Like You

Malgré son incroyable succès, il aura fallu attendre près d'un an avant de voir un nouveau clip d'Adele ! 10 mois pour être précis séparent la publication de celui de Rolling In The Deep et la révélation il y a véritablement une poignée de minutes de la vidéo de Someone Like You.

Une attente pas forcément justifiée qui aboutit sur un clip pour le moins minimaliste. Il ne s'y passe pas grand chose, Adele déambule et c'est tout, l'on sent l'interprète de génie bien moins à l'aise devant une caméra que sur scène aussi.

Mais pour véritables bonheurs on restera saisi par le charisme de la jeune femme et on appréciera l'excellent choix de décor puisque nous sommes en plein Paris sur le Port des Champs-Elysées et le Pont Alexandre III.

Espérons que les clips de Set Fire To The Rain (gros potentiel vu la force du titre et ses paroles) et du récemment confirmé Rumour Has It tarderont moins.

Karl Wolf & Kardinal Offishall - Ghetto Love

A passer la tête ne serait-ce que deux minutes par la fenêtre, on se rend vite compte que l'été a décidé de démarrer le 20 septembre cette année. Du coup, dans la catégorie "le raggaeton j'aime pas trop, mais ça j'aime bien", voici le très estival Ghetto Love de Karl Worf.

Méconnu en France, Karl Wolf a déjà 10 ans de carrière derrière lui et quelques succès essentiellement sur ses terres : au Canada. Mais avant de se lancer en solo c'est en coulisses que Carl Abou Samah de son vrai nom a commencé à travailler, pour des artistes locaux tel le groupe Sky dont il devenu leader au départ de son chanteur en 2003.

Pour ce nouveau single, Karl Wolf s'associe à son compatriote rappeur signé et trusté par Akon sur Beautiful : Kardinal Offishall (vous savez c'est lui qui fait "brrroup blouuuuup jiheaaah" toutes les deux secondes).

Le titre réussit le pari des vrais hits raggaeton en portant une ligne de chant résolument pop sur un beat tout ce qu'il y a de plus classique dans le genre. De la même façon que Sean Paul avait fait passer Give It Up To Me d'honorable album-track en single à succès par exemple : en remixant le titre avec Keshia Cole.

A noter que si Ghetto Love est si plaisant, c'est aussi parce qu'il reprend en le modernisant et en changeant quelques paroles le déjà très efficace refrain du Glory Of Love de Peter Cetera (bande originale de Karaté Kid 2 !).

A noter qu'une version alternative du titre existe où les couplets sont en français, le titre a donc peut-être ses chances sur nos historiques radios musicales hexagonales (extrait ici). Mais du coup, s'attarder sur les paroles, c'est pas une bonne idée.

Coeur de Pirate - Adieu

Après avoir fait sensation il y a 2 ans avec son premier album (84 semaines dans le Top 50 Français), Béatrice Martin aka Coeur de Pirate est de retour avec Adieu.

Du haut de ses désormais 22 ans, la jeune chanteuse, parolière et auteur-compositeur créait à nouveau la surprise en février dernier en proposant un EP non pas en solo mais sous un autre projet nommé Armistice, en duo avec Jay Malinowski (son compagnon, leader des rockeurs canadiens Bedouin Soundclash).

Son nouvel album bien à elle, "Blonde", paraîtra courant novembre (le 14 en France) et est porté par un premier single étonnant : Adieu. Sous des sonorités 60's décidément très à la mode, Coeur de Pirate est plus incisive qu'on l'a connue sur Comme des Enfants (Victoire de la Musique 2010) et quitte son copain, dont on apprend dans le drôle et vraiment réussi clip qu'il est trop volage à son goût, qu'elle n'en est pas dupe et se venge.

Bruno Mars est sur tous les fronts. En pleine tournée mondiale (en octobre au Zénith de Paris après être passé par La Cigale et L'Olympia), celui qui s'impose comme l'une des plus importantes révélations de ces dernières années enchaînait il y a quelques semaines avec un nouvel extrait de son album et propose à présent un inédit : It Will Rain.

Titre écrit sur la route, puis intégré à la bande originale de Twilight 4 dont la première partie sortira le 16 novembre au cinéma, It Will Rain prouve que Bruno Mars n'a rien perdu du talent et de l'inspiration qui l'animaient lors de la composition de son incontournable "Doo-Wops And Hooligans".

Les fans devraient être rassurés, puisque produit comme d'habitude en trio avec Philip Lawrence et Ari Levine avec qui il forme les Smeezingtons, ce nouveau single ne rompt pas avec le style que Mars a développé jusqu'à présent. Tout juste le titre est-il agrémenté de quelques discrètes guitares électriques comme pour être raccord avec l'univers de la saga Twilight jusqu'à présent emblématiquement porté par Paramore.

C'était l'une des bombes électro qui ont fait vibrer l'Inox Park 2011 il y a deux semaines aux portes de Paris, à Chatou comme nous l'a répété l'excellent Joachim Garraud (originaire de là-bas, #chauvinisme) : découvrez Pressure, le nouveau Nadia Ali, avec Starkillers et Alex Kenji.

Resituons.  

Nadia Ali, après avoir travaillé comme secrétaire chez Versace à New York, a eu la bonne idée d'intégrer puis de laisser tomber son groupe iiO (initialement VaiiO, nom changé pour éviter les conflits de droits avec Sony qui a déposé la marque VAIO pour ses ordinateurs) après qu'ils aient accouché de Rapture, Top 2 UK en 2001. Mais c'est l'an dernier, alors que le Midas de producteur suédois Avicii décide de remixer le titre, que Rapture connaît un nouveau souffle et explose en airplay et diffusions club en France (et marchouille en Europe, cartonne en Roumanie).

Starkillers, alias Nick Terranova sur sa boîte aux lettres, qui contrairement à ce que son nom de scène indique n'est qu'un seul et même homme est essentiellement reconnu dans le milieu électro pour quelques productions en nom propre - Discoteka, Scream, The Funk Phenomena VS. AVH et Bitch Ass Trick -, mais aussi pour un nombre conséquent de remixes pour des pointures du genre tels Armand Van Helden, D.O.N.S., Robbie Rivera ou encore Paul Oakenfold.

Alex Kenji est le seul européen du trio, Italien pour être précis. 10 ans de carrière et une vraie respectabilité dans ce même milieu électro où il a publié nombre de productions sous divers pseudos.

Les trois se rencontrent donc sur ce qui est officiellement le nouveau single de Nadia Ali, véritable bombe en puissance.

Matthew Raymond-Barker - Trash

Malchanceux dans l'édition anglaise mais lauréat du X Factor français, Matthew Raymond-Barker prépare son premier album et en a confié le premier single : Trash. Une manière comme une autre de faire oublier son hérétique reprise de Daniel Balavoine.

Il y a des titres comme ça, que dès la première écoute on s'interdit d'aimer. Trop facile, trop cliché, trop quoi ! On s'en moque un peu, beaucoup. On se l'interdit. Puis on le ré-écoute, par hasard ou pas. Et parfois, après on craque.

Je vous rassure, ça arrive pas souvent hein. Et j'ai pas d'explication si ce n'est que derrière son côté "on essaie de faire du Taio Cruz à la française parce que ça marche", "on va le faire chanter en français et en anglais comme ça on joue la carte de la bi-nationalité et puis il peut chanter avec son accent so cuuuuuuute", et au-délà des paroles ("Tout le monde Jumpe sur le Bar... On lève les bras on s'attache se trash"... Sérieux ?!?) et de sa pochette (et ce regard... incroyable) le titre est entêtant et bien produit.

J'assume pas les paroles (qui en fin de compte me font beaucoup rire tellement elles sont WTF²), mais j'assume adorer la musique mainstream. Donc oui, de la même façon qu'il est interdit de manger des bonbons ultra sucrés et sur-chimiques mais que c'est bon quand même, en ce moment j'écoute Trash de Matthew Raymond-Barker dans mon iPod.

Rien n'arrête Rihanna.

Alors qu'elle est en pleine tournée mondiale et que l'exploitation de son album "LOUD" paru il y a tout juste un an continue avec un septième single au succès plus qu'honorable (top 8 aux US à ce jour), la belle annonçait il y a quelques jours prévoir un nouvel opus pour la fin de l'année, porté par un premier single qui devait être révélé dès que ses fans se seraient assez mobilisés sur Twitter.

Chose faite en moins de 24 heures.

Elle est très forte.

Ce premier single, on le sait depuis le week-end dernier (rumeur d'abord, puis confirmation mardi) est une production de l'anglais Calvin Harris. Encore une surprise après l'annonce il y a quelques jours (oui tout va encore très vite) d'une collaboration avec Coldplay sur leur futur album "Mylo Xyloto" prévu pour fin Octobre. 


Calvin Harris, éminemment respecté pour son électro-pop reconnaissable entre toutes s'est fait un nom en deux albums, "I Created Disco" (2007) et "Ready For The Weekend" (2009), best-sellers outre-Manche. Après la Rihanna RnB-dance de "Good Girl Gone Bad", plus torturée dans "Rated R" et machine à tubes imparable dans "LOUD" la superstar a décidé de jouer une carte plus pointue.



Le morceau étonne de part sa production, ses sons, le traitement de la voix de Rihanna aussi, comme par le peu de paroles qu'il comporte.

Mais We Found Love, c'est son titre, n'en est pas moins efficace dès la première écoute.





Et celle qui il y a quelques semaines dépassait Lady Gaga en nombre de fans sur Facebook est en passe, au delà de ces tours de force que sont le buzz qu'elle vient de créer et le rythme effréné qu'à tort ou à raison elle mène dans son occupation du marché, de réussir un exploit : ouvrir les oreilles françaises au bonheur des productions de Calvin Harris. Franchement, merci.

NSW Welcomes ‘Outstanding’ Growth

Withstanding the strong Aussie dollar, domestic tourism into NSW experienced strong growth for the month of June compared the corresponding month last year, the first time in eight years.

The state welcomed an 11 percent increase in domestic visitors while the number of nights stayed also rose by up to 12 percent and doubled the national average, according to figures released by Tourism Research Australia.

Boosting the state’s domestic arrival growth for the year ending June 2011 to 24.1 domestic overnight visitors, Minister for Tourism George Souris described the growth as “outstanding” and a relief to achieving planned goals.

“This bodes well for the NSW Government’s target of doubling overnight tourism expenditure by 2020,” Mr Souris explained.

“NSW has increased its share of total domestic visitors to 35 per cent with Victoria and Queensland recording a 24 per cent share.

“This strong performance has meant an additional 4.2 million nights to NSW in the year ending June 2011, injecting an additional $782 million into our State’s economy.

According to the Minister, Sydney saw the strongest growth for the period with a rise of up to 21 percent in visitors and 19 percent in visitor nights.

Regional NSW also welcomed a rise with a three percent increase in visitors and an additional $273 million in spending.

The Freshmen - Hello There

Cette rentrée est plus que jamais sous le signe du son club. Qu'à cela ne tienne, voici un peu de son contraire : une merveille de fraicheur à la croisée du hip-hop, de la pop, de la soul... De tout plein de bonnes choses en fait.

Oui parce que The Freshmen, à l'écoute de Hello There, c'est presque Ben L'Oncle Soul qui aurait rencontré Outkast et qu'on aurait mélangé avec des influences 60's. Formé il y a un peu plus de deux ans, le trio californien composé de THX (producteur) et des MC's Kristo et A Wolf propose ainsi un titre totalement comparable à Beggin' des Madcon, ras-de-marée de l'été 2008.

Ce hit en puissance est prêt et clippé depuis un an mais ne devrait bénéficier véritablement d'un peu de promotion que maintenant aux US. Espérons que l'Europe n'attendra pas, Hello There est tout simplement imparable.

Officialisé comme nouveau single il y a près d'un mois, peu avant leur live à Rock en Seine 2011, Astronaut de Simple Plan est à présent clippé.

Le titre, qui aborde le thème de la solitude et du sentiment d'être exclu / incompris en développant la métaphore de l'astronaute qui aimerait toucher Terre, poursuit la promotion du très bon album "Get Your Heart On !", qui s'est hissé top 10 en France.

Samsung World Rowing Cup secured for Sydney 2013-2014

The Samsung World Rowing Cup will be staged at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith in 2013 and 2014.

The World Rowing Cup events are expected to bring some 800 athletes, officials and media from across the globe during the 21 days of the event.

For the first time ever, Australia will be hosting the opening round of the Samsung World Rowing Cups in 2013 and 2014 at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. This prestigious event will be hosted in conjunction with the Australian Rowing Championships and Interstate Regatta. The dates of the combined regatta are 18-24 March, 2013.

The format of the ‘Festival of Rowing’ will involve a five day National Championships (Monday 18^th to Friday 22^nd March) with the Interstate Regatta, the morning of Saturday 23^rd March. The World Cup (14 Olympic events) will begin with heats on Friday afternoon 22^nd , Reps on Saturday afternoon with Finals of the World Cup on Sunday 24^th March. In a fantastic development opportunity, the finals of the National Schools Championships events will be included within the Sunday World Cup program. The event is supported by ‘Destination NSW’ and FISA’s major sponsor Samsung, who will provide support to bring to Australia all the medal winning crews in each event from the London Olympics. In addition, Australia will compete with two crews in each of the 14 World Cup events.

In adopting the principle of ‘many hands make light work’, Rowing Australia and Rowing NSW are seeking expressions of interest from individuals in the rowing community (within NSW and from across Australia) who would like assist in the organisation of these two very special regattas in either a Team Leader/Coordinator or Team Member role. There will also be an opportunity to participate in the organisation of Rowing NSW major events in the lead up to the regattas.

Sydney Events Update - September 2011

Two major new events have been announced for the 2011 Crave Sydney International Food Festival. Visitors and Sydneysiders will be able to enjoy Breakfast on Bondi on 23 October and also experience a Kids’ Crazy Island Tea Party on Goat Island over three weekends in October. For more information go to www.cravesydney.com. The festival is one of five signature events on the NSW Events Calendar, created by Destination NSW.

Destination NSW has secured the opening round of the prestigious Samsung World Rowing Cup in 2013 and 2014 to be staged at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith. The event will attract visitors from overseas and interstate with teams expected to stay in Western Sydney.

The NRL Finals Season was launched this week in Sydney. The NSW Government through Destination NSW is thrilled to support the NRL and pleased the NRL Grand Final will stay in Sydney for the next decade. Recently conducted research found the 2010 NRL Grand Final generated more than $15 million in new money for the State with almost 20,000 interstate and overseas visitors coming to Sydney for the event.

One Direction - Na Na Na

Le phénomène One Direction (dont je vous parlais déjà le mois dernier) vient de publier le single de What Makes You Beautiful lequel comprend aussi le très efficace Na Na Na.

Alors que l'Angleterre réserve un accueil triomphal à ce premier gallon qui a d'ores et déjà battu un record, celui du nombre de pré-ventes pour un single sur iTunes, la France boude encore les One Direction. Rien sur iTunes, aucune radio ne le playliste, seul le web s'y intéresse. Mais pour combien de temps ?

Au-delà de l'engouement, de la ferveur de leur fanbase et de l'impressionnante campagne promo que le groupe a entamé outre-Manche (avec notamment ce premier "live" lors de "Red Or Black ?", jeu événement durant une semaine à la TV anglaise), le premier album des One Direction s'annonce sous les meilleurs auspices avec notamment deux grands noms dans leur équipe de production : Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Usher, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke ou encore Glee lui doivent quelques hits) et Rami Yacoub (P!nk, Enrique Iglesias, Bon Jovi, Céline Dion, et co-producteur avec Max Martin du titre qui a révélé Britney Spears, ...Baby One More Time).

Na Na Na, B-Side du single What Makes You Beautiful, en est le témoin : un titre efficace, entêtant et qui donne le sourire, assurément de la bonne teen pop.

Akon - Rely On

Akon est de retour ! ... Non mais pour de vrai. Et dans ses potentiels singles, ce titre : Rely On.

Voilà deux ans maintenant qu'on entend parler du nouvel projet d'Akon, plusieurs fois rebaptisé mais qui devrait finalement s'appeler "Stadium". Akon lui-même avait déclaré fin 2009 qu'il avait suffisamment de titres prêts pour sortir deux albums et que vraisemblablement le premier serait disponible sous quelques mois.

Oui mais voilà, il a parlé bien vite. Repoussé de nombreuses fois pour des problèmes divers dont une question un temps évoquée d'emploi du temps surchargé pour l'artiste-producteur, "Stadium" ne verra pas le jour de toute l'année 2010, ni d'une bonne partie de 2011.

Tout juste fut-il introduit il y a exactement un an par Angel produit par David Guetta/Sandy Vee, succès très relatif en terme de ventes par rapport à tous ses précédents singles mais notamment soutenu en airplay par une radio musicale nationale française au "son dancefloor".

L'épilogue est en principe pour bientôt puisque "Stadium" devrait émerger le 15 novembre prochain et porter ce titre à véritable potentiel : Rely On. Une intro étonnante (loin des clichés du RnB), de l'auto-tune à gogo (proche des clichés du RnB : 1 partout), un titre entêtant et efficace. Hit en puissance.

Face au succès de leur dernier album "Sorry For Party Rocking" (Top 8 en France !) et au véritable ras-de-marée Party Rock Anthem, les LMFAO enchaînent assez rapidement (et passent l'engouement plus modéré pour Champagne Showers) avec Sexy And I Know It.

Un titre barré, un clip barré. La recette de Party Rock Anthem en somme. Moins surprenant certes, mais efficace. Et toujours drôle...

NSW Budget Boost for Major Events

Industry groups in New South Wales have generally welcomed this week’s State Budget for the impetus it will give to tourism in Sydney and beyond. Accommodation Association of Australia CEO, Richard Munro, said the $70 million that will be invested in the NSW events calendar in 2011/12 would have direct benefits for accommodation businesses. He said it was also “pleasing to see specific funding has been allocated to market Sydney, with a priority on increasing the number of visitors from China”. Chairman of Tourism Industry Council NSW, Ken Corbett, said increased regional tourism funding was a key initiative. “Regional Tourism is experiencing challenging times with the high dollar and employment costs leading many Australians to choose an overseas holiday. “This, combined with a decrease in our more traditionally dispersed markets including the UK, Germany and USA, is making it more difficult for products in regional New South Wales,” Corbett said.

Sydney’s convention bureau, Business Events Sydney (BESydney) says it is well on its way to delivering 2011/12 results “above and beyond” the AU$186.5 million earned by the company the year before.

Just two months into the new fiscal year, BESydney has secured 34 events estimated to be worth AU$69 million to the New South Wales economy.
